What I Learned Today

Today, in ESL class i have learned about complex sentence, compound sentence, and run-on sentence. Compound sentence is 2 or more complete sentences in one sentence, and we do some exercise about compound sentence.

Example of Compound sentence:
I like to play basketball, but my friend like to play soccer.

Complex sentence is sentence that a independent clause and dependent clause joined together in one sentence. Independent sentence is sentence that is by themselves or a sentence that make sense. Dependent sentence is sentence that depend on other sentence or sentence that doesn't make sense. Then, we do some exercise about it for the example

Example of Complex sentence:
I love to play basketball, so I joined the basketball team.

Run-on sentence is 2 or more sentence, but didn't have comma or the sentence is too long. Then, we do some exercise about it for the example.

Example of Run-on sentence:
I love to play basketball so I joined the basketball team and I joined the tournament.

What I Learned Today

Today in the ESL class, I have learned that to write a complete sentence, I need to have a subject, predicate, and a complete thought. Then, I have learned about a sentence fragment, sentence fragment is a sentence that sometimes didn't have subject, or a predicate, or a complete thought. Then, i have learned about compound subject and compound predicate, compound subject is more than one subject and compound predicate is more than one predicate.

Example of fragment sentence:
Love to play computer games - Missing Subject

Poetry

At the first I study poetry, I don't really understand what does the poetry about, how good is it, and why we need to make a poetry. But, now I know that poetry is important because we can make poetry by going outside to the field that have many people and many things so,we can write the poetry of what does the people doing and describe the thing that they do. Now, I know deeper about the poetry, too. Poetry is a word that can express our self and there are many kinds of poetry like haiku poem, street music, nature poem, and many other poems. From the work that is done I like it, too.

From the project that have done, the poetry that I like is the so much depends poem and from the 3 poems, I like the last poem because the word that I write is true, almost everyone of us is depends to the technology because technology is very useful for us and can make our work done easily, every technology is very useful for us. The example of the technology is laptop and internet that can help us to find the information that we need and can let us type at the laptop so we don't need to write. The last thing that is true is many people love it, because it can make us easier, many people love to use it.
